Freeform RNG is a Random Number Generator created for freeform roleplaying. Every action in Freeform RNG generates a random number between 1 and 100. The result of the action is based on the confidence level suggested by the Game Master. The system is only 4 rules, but provides endless creative freedom for roleplaying adventures of any genre.

Freeform RNG was a weekend project that turned into a fun pastime providing hours of entertainment to me and my circle of friends. I’ve always been a fan of roleplaying games, but the overhead and investment required to host or play many of the standard games can be frustrating - piles of rulebooks, notes, and maps, and bags of dice, counters, figurines, and more… One night on a camping trip with a few friends, we sat around the campfire with a small lamp, a paper plate, and a single 20-sided dice we passed between us. We had a blast going on a spontaneous roleplaying adventure together, and I realized that all of the other rules, equipment, and space typical of a tabletop roleplaying game are not always necessary. So I built the tool that I wanted, a simple random number generator with seven scaling confidence levels that can be used for any roleplaying game, any setting, any scenario - with no setup, rulebooks, or other tools required.
